Stakin joins Ecologi - Acting Now To Alleviate Our Climate Impact
We're thrilled to share that for the second year running; we're taking action to compensate for our carbon emissions! To compensate for our past and future emissions, we’ve decided to join Ecologi. Ecologi is a platform that allows individuals and businesses to take positive action on climate change by supporting various environmental projects worldwide. The platform enables people to calculate and offset their carbon footprint, plant trees to sequester carbon, and support projects that reduce carbon emissions, such as renewable energy and community-based conservation initiatives. At Stakin, we’re committed to positively impacting the environment, and joining Ecologi is a crucial step toward achieving our sustainability goals.
In previous years, Stakin has taken the initiative to offset its carbon footprint by purchasing Carbon Credits from Regen Network. While we will continue to support Regen Network through education, community efforts, and our validator infrastructure, we have decided to expand our ecological horizon for 2023 and plant 5,000 trees worldwide with the Ecologi project.
As part of the program, we'll support various projects that help offset our carbon footprint and reduce our impact on the planet. This includes initiatives like reforestation, renewable energy, and community-based conservation efforts. All projects are in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Current projects that Stakin is supporting:
- Planting forest gardens in Tanzania and Uganda through Trees for the Future (TREES), an organization that has planted over 250 million trees since it was founded in 1989.
- Wind power project in Thailand verified through Verra.
- The High Atlas Foundation project is dedicated to saving endemic Moroccan fruit tree species.
- Restoring tropical rainforests in Kenya with the International Tree Foundation.
We're also delighted to participate in the Climate Positive Workforce project. This program encourages businesses to assess and offset their employees' carbon footprints and establish policies and practices that promote workplace sustainability. A sustainable business begins with a sustainable workforce, and we are dedicated to reducing our environmental effects inside and outside our offices. The Green Road Ahead
In 2022, Stakin announced its goal to become carbon neutral, and ever since, has taken active steps toward doing so. As an infrastructure provider for over 40 Proof-of-Stake blockchains we feel it is our responsibility to push toward a greener blockchain ecosystem. Taking example from other high-profile projects in the space such as Polygon and Ethereum, and the Regenerative Finance (ReFi) projects worldwide, we will continue to strive for a greener blockchain ecosystem while delivering high-end, trustworthy infrastructure for our delegators.
